Re-evaluate contraceptive pill decisions.

By designing, focussing on form and its performance, we would like people to re-evaluate on their decisions concerning the contraceptive pill.

Women often start using the contraceptive pill at a young age, either through personal choice or medical advice. Once started, it often becomes a long-term routine without a clear moment of reconsideration. Over time, the pill becomes something habitual rather than actively questioned. This project explores how that lack of reflection can be challenged. Not by telling people what to do, but by creating a moment where assumptions, habits, and perspectives around the contraceptive pill can be reconsidered.

We collected quotes from users, men, and physicians to show different perspectives on the contraceptive pill. These were used as material within the installation rather than as information alone. The focus was on how form can trigger reflection and discussion. The installation is built from hanging pill strips, packaging, and the quotes structured with wooden rings. Quotes are placed within circular frames to draw attention, while a runner leads people into the space. A poster poses the central question: “Is de pil nog wat je wil?” The spatial setup allows people to physically enter the system of the pill and be surrounded by its presence.
